Not Everyone Stays

      Not everyone knows how to stay in the presence of truth. Some people move only towards what they can control, what does not require risk, what fits their small measures. They approach until everything is simple, predictable, light enough not to touch their fragile places.

      But the moment depth appears, the moment someone arrives whole, with fire in their eyes and truth in their chest, they step back, as if they have seen too much.

      Some confuse intensity with excess, when often it is nothing more than a presence without masks. Those who live on the surface are embarrassed by someone who feels deeply, who names what they live, who does not accept half-hearted affection or hollow promises. Those accustomed to the superficial call drama that which is only depth. They call demanding that which is simply dignity. They call too much that which actually reveals their own scarcity.

      That is why some departures are not losses, but revelations. They show who only knew how to stay until courage was needed. They reveal who wanted the glamour but not the weight, the company but not the truth, the comfort but not the surrender. And when these people leave, they take with them only the illusion that they would have changed anything.

      Then, one day, the rare ones arrive. They do not come to tame your strength, nor to ask you to become smaller. They arrive with the calmness of those who are not afraid of depth. They know how to stay in silence and in excess, in brightness and in shadow, in the light day and the difficult night. They do not ask you to become smaller so that they can stay. They carry enough space within themselves to accept who you are.

      Then everything that has ever hurt becomes clear. Not everyone who has left has rejected you, many have simply revealed themselves as incapable. And those who stay are not better because they stayed - they are simply compatible with the truth you carry.

      Many times life only becomes easier when you free yourself from those who need ease and recognize those who have enough soul to stay.
